Lately I have been more and more interested in the virtual. That which is never finished, does not depend upon space and time. Forever the same, it is happening, has happened and is yet to happen. Unlimited potential that can
be cooked up again and again.
Boris Groys makes a difference between
a jpg-file and the image the computer renders.
The jpg-file being the recipe for the image as it were. But the virtual is not just an internet phenomenon, it is from all ages. Groys compares the jpg-file/image-relation to the relation of an Orthodox icon as being the visible picture of the invisible God. The virtual is the consciousness that constitutes the material reality (see the Youtube-video on Emergence Theory) The virtual are our hopes and dreams that shape our lives, and let us render a world to live in (see the video on Arvo Pärt). So let us collect some recipes to mix-up some funky cocktails.
